Truvy's Beauty Salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, is the place where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Outspoken and wise-cracking Truvy and her eager new and naïve assistant, Annelle dispense free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), is about to marry a "good ole boy." Filled with hilarious repartee and humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when, in the second act, the spunky Shelby (who is a diabetic) risks pregnancy. The play is a beautiful and touching tribute to love and friendships.

Based on the classic story by Hans Christian Anderson, the author of The Nerd & The Foreigner offers us this hilarious adaptation. The mythical kingdom of Mango-Chutney has a parade every day. The Emperor decides to hold a special parade for which he must have the most beautiful clothes in the world, offers half of his money to the weaver who comes up with the finest cloth. He also announces that he will give the other half plus the hand of his daughter, Princess Farthingale to anyone who can make him believe that something is real when actually it is not. Needless to say all this leads to much furious activity and some diabolical plotting by Skreech and Clodney. It is touch and go for a while, but it all ends happily with the encouragement of a participating audience.

Only Agatha Christie could have conceived such a suspenseful thriller and then capped it with an uncanny triple flip ending. A young married man, the murder of a rich old woman, a shrewish wife, a vindictive mystery woman, along with many others line up to make this play a must see!
